International Peace Charter Launches Global Campaign from Victoria, B.C.

Victoria, B.C. – November 5, 2025 — In response to growing global unrest and the threat of escalating international conflict, a new grassroots initiative – InternationalPeaceCharter.org – is launching a worldwide peace campaign, starting in Victoria.

Founded by local philanthropist and former broadcast executive Miles Craig, the International Peace Charter is a non-profit movement dedicated to promoting peaceful resolutions to global conflicts through citizen engagement and diplomatic advocacy.

“With over 110 active wars and armed conflicts happening around the world, we cannot afford to remain silent,” said Craig. “It is time for citizens to use their collective voice to call for peace.”

The campaign’s core strategy is simple: encourage individuals around the world to send peaceful email appeals to their national leaders, urging them to commit to diplomacy, negotiation, and the principles of the International Peace Charter. With over 5.5 billion internet users globally, the initiative aims to mobilize millions of people in a show of global solidarity.

The Canadian campaign was launched in Victoria on October 24, 2025, with the announcement of the official international peace charter e-petition active in the House of Commons. The petition, sponsored and endorsed by MP Elizabeth May, calls on the Canadian government to ratify the peace charter.

The International Peace Charter outlines 11 principles emphasizing that all nations share responsibility for de-escalating violence and fostering peace, including renouncing war and violence, resolving disputes through dialogue and reconciliation, advancing disarmament and redirecting resources to human development, respecting sovereignty and peoples’ right to self-determination, defending truth and countering disinformation, promoting environmental stewardship to prevent conflict, protecting human dignity and diversity, supporting fair justice and transitional accountability, and fostering collective well-being through well-being and reconciliation.

With plans to expand internationally, organizers are currently seeking support from local media, community organizations, schools, and faith groups to amplify the message and engage the public.

“World peace may be a complex goal, but the first step is simple: speak up,” said Craig. “This campaign gives people a way to act on their hope for a better, more peaceful world.”
